Vietnamese Rice Paper is an ideal prepping item.
It doesn’t take up much space. The flavour is neutral. No cooking is required (although you can fry them). And they last for a really, really long time.
When bread is in short supply, having a stock of rice paper on hand can be useful for assembling sandwich-like meals, improvising hand held foods, or for traditional Asian rolls. They’re super easy to prepare… just immerse in water until they’re soft, then remove them, fill and fold up.
And, if you’re in a situation where the smell of frying food doesn’t put you in danger, you can use them to make vegan pork rinds (or whatever you want to call the crispy fried food that will knock your socks off).
