Spaghetti takes up less space than wiggly pasta.
I grew up eating spaghetti, and I liked it, but discovering fancy pasta was a revelation. Rigatoni. Penne. Farfelle, with their natty bow tie appeal. When I started putting aside food, I bought the fun pasta, just because.
The other day, I was picking up pasta on sale and I had a revelation: pound for pound, spaghetti and its unfussy siblings such as fettucine, and vermicelli take up a lot less space.
It only makes sense. Straight, simple, compact. You can fit a LOT of spaghetti into a small space.
So, that’s it for me. Barring the odd box of mac and cheese, I’m going straight and simple.
I only wish I’d thought of it sooner.
